About Our Family Farm LLC

Our Family Farm is your local family operated farm located on the flats of Fir Island in Skagit County. Our Farm, centered between the Cascade mountain range and the San Juan Islands gives our fields the ideal soil for growing crops. This allows us to grow and market some of highest quality berries in the Pacific Northwest.  With hard work, four generations of farming practice, and support from our community, we're honored to delivering the freshest and highest quality berries from our family to yours.

Hulbert Family History

In 1909 James Hulbert Sr. and his family moved from Fontanelle Iowa to the flats of Skagit Valley, Washington.  He soon established a stock and dairy farm, LaConner Flat Stock Farm, where he raised Holsteins.

Ten years later he sold his cattle and transitioned into growing row crops at Hulbert Farm.  He was among one of the first Washington farmers to grow strawberries and peas commercially.

In the late 1940's James's two sons, Robert and James Jr. joined the operation after completing their educations at WSU and serving in WWII.  They continued farming strawberries, broccoli, cauliflower, vegetable seed, and later got into daffodil bulbs.

Robert Hulbert had five children who grew up working on the farm.  They all graduated from WSU and continued their career paths in various agricultural fields.

Robert's son Michael, and grandson Dane want to continue the family tradition of farming and established Our Family Farm LLC in 2017.
